Gren’s much-loved cartoon sheep will be mixing with the livestock at this year’s Royal Welsh Show as they help to spread the word about Caerphilly county borough council’s social media activities.
The woolly characters are being used by Caerphilly to promote the council’s use of Twitter, Facebook and other social media channels.
The iconic sheep have appeared in countless Gren cartoons over the years and now they are heading up to the showground in Builth Wells to help promote 21st century communications at this historic annual event.
The Caerffili Cwm a Mynydd Partnership is attending the Royal Welsh Show to promote the Caerphilly county borough and the improvement work being done across the area.
The Partnership is led by the council and has secured funding through the Rural Development Plan for a range of projects that support local rural people, places and businesses.
Their stand at the Royal Welsh Show aims to highlight that Caerphilly county borough is predominantly a ‘green’ county borough with many rural areas that are increasingly relevant to local people.
New for this year, the team will be using Twitter to post updates and info live from the show in a bid to promote the RDP in Caerphilly and provide a new dimension to CCBC social networking. The famous Gren sheep branding will be on display to encourage more people to ‘Follow Us….’ and find out the latest news from the Royal Welsh Show.
The council’s Twitter address is @caerphillycbc and the team will be tweeting using the hashtag #royalwelshshow
The Royal Welsh Show runs from Monday 18th to Thursday 21st of July and the Caerffili Cwm a Mynydd stand is located in Avenue D, Location 295.
This Caerffili Cwm a Mynydd project has received funding through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007/13 which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
