Monmouthshire County Council is backing a new Enterprise Club for budding entrepreneurs in Caldicot. It will enable them to receive business support, advice and build local contacts. The Caldicot Enterprise Club will give people who want to set up their own business the chance to share experiences and access professional advice that they might not otherwise be able to afford. The Club will also assist people who have just started their own small business. The Enterprise Club will meet initially on Tuesday 22 November 2011 from 10am to 12pm at Caldicot Library.
Cllr Bob Greenland, MCC’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise said:
“Encouraging and supporting enterprise in Monmouthshire, together with protecting vulnerable people and supporting education, is one of our three priorities. So I’m delighted that we’re meeting that commitment through initiatives like this. We want to support innovation and enterprise and this is a great example of the kind of work we’ll be doing to make that happen.”
David Bevan of Monmouthshire Enterprise, Monmouthshire County Council’s Economic Development service, said:
“New businesses represent the future of our economy, so we need to make sure that unemployed people with a good idea get the support they need to move into self-employment. New entrepreneurs and small business owners in Caldicot will be able to swap ideas and talk to guest speakers including people from successful local businesses.”
Tony Down of Venture Wales who are also backing the Caldicot Enterprise Club said:
“We want to help boost Monmouthshire’s economy. Backing local entrepreneurs is just one many ways that we’ll be working with Monmouthshire County Council to help make Monmouthshire open for business.”
