Welsh Conservatives have today confronted the Assembly Government over its priorities for the economy.
Speaking in the Assembly Chamber, Leader of the Opposition Nick Bourne AM challenged the First Minister over the Assembly Government’s commitment to consulting with the private sector.
Commenting on the exchange, Mr Bourne said:
“The First Minister said today that he wants the private sector to grow but his administration’s actions do not provide the assurances we need to believe that the Assembly Government is wholly committed to working with the private sector.
“Indeed, CBI Wales has commented that the Assembly Government’s engagement with industry on proposals with ‘substantial’ market impact has been ‘poor’.
“Furthermore, Members of the Institute of Directors and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors have also been highly critical over the Assembly Government’s relationship with the private sector, with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors citing that WAG seemed suspicious of the private sector.
“The First Minister and his colleagues must to meaningfully consult more and gain the trust of business within in the private sector.”
