Brains Bartender Named Britain’s Best

A bartender from popular Cardiff pub The Grape and Olive has been rewarded with an ‘Oscar of the pub industry’.

Last night (21st March) Lisa Psaila of the Brains owned Grape and Olive was crowned ‘Bar Person of the Year’ at the 2010 Publican Awards. Presenting her with the award was comedian Michael McIntyre, who hosted the glittering awards ceremony at the Grosvenor Hotel in London.

Lisa impressed the judges with her product knowledge and attention to perfect serve, her dedication to customer service excellence and commitment and motivation. They said: “Lisa is someone who customers would want to spend time with. She brings a wealth of experience to Grape & Olive and judges believe she has a great future ahead of her in the pub trade”.

It’s not the first time Lisa has been recognised. Last year she was named Bar Person of the Year by Brains at their annual Retail Excellence Awards.

Speaking of the Publican award, Philip Lay, Retail Director at Brains said:

“To be named the best par person in the UK is a huge achievement. Lisa delivers superb customer experiences everyday and it’s great to see her hard work rewarded and talent recognised.

“The award also goes to show that the emphasis we put on training and development is really paying off. Our staff are our greatest asset and we want to help them be the best they can possibly be.”
