In recent weeks Roads Policing officers and dog handlers have been working with Neighbourhood Policing Officers within Bridgend focussing on areas of concern identified from PACT meetings.
In the Porthcawl area police officers on West Road stopped ten vehicles and issued a mixture warning notices and endorsable Fixed Penalty Notices for excess speed.
On South Road 22 vehicles were also stopped and issued with warning notices for excess speed. On Bridgend Road a further eight tickets were issued for excess speed offences, the fastest being 52mph in a 30mph.
In the Bridgend sector PACT concerns regarding the anti social use of vehicles within the Bridgend Town Centre and Retail Park during the evening was addressed. Officers issued tickets for a range of offences including speeding, anti-social vehicle use such as erratic driving, sounding of horns and tinted windows, fog light and seat belt offences. In total, 47 tickets – a mixture warning notices and endorsable Fixed Penalty Notices were issued and one vehicle was seized.
Porthcawl Neighbourhood Inspector Alan James said: “We will be increasing patrols in these areas and where motorists are found to be committing traffic offences they will result in prosecution which could incur either a Fixed Penalty Notice or a summons to the local Magistrates Court.”
