Bridgend Tradesmen have Vans Stolen while at Work

South Wales PolicePolice Officers in Bridgend are warning local van owners to be vigilant following two recent incidents when vehicles were stolen in the area whilst tradesmen have been working.

On two separate occasions vans were stolen whilst their users were working on site.  In separate incidents the owners of the vans, which had been left parked outside while working nearby, had left the vans unsecured.

South Wales Police are advising tradesmen to make sure they lock van doors every time they leave the vehicle, even when working at a property, and never leave the keys in the van.

Police Sergeant Jason McGill said “A van can be stolen in minutes so tradesmen need to make sure their vehicles have been locked properly at all times, even if they are popping back and for frequently to get tools and materials.”

“If anyone is offered tools for sale in suspicious circumstances they should contact South Wales Police immediately.  We rely on information from members of the public in order to crack down effectively on this type of crime”.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 and quote reference number 1400105518.
