Burry Port’s Second call of the day

After a busy afternoon the volunteers at the RNLI’s station at Burry Port launched for the second time at 7pm to assist a small Shetland boat which had broken down south of Worm’s Head.

The boat and its crew of two local men had left Burry Port Monday morning for a day’s fishing. When it was time to return they were unable to start their engine they then called Swansea Coastguard. The coastguards requested the launch of Horton Lifeboat. Horton started the tow back towards Burry Port but as this was a long way from their area the crew from Burry Port went to take over the tow. The tow was transferred north of Worm’s Head and the boat brought in to the marina at 8pm.

The Burry Port Lifeboat was crewed by:- Lee Howells, Julian Aston and Susanna Morgan.
