Burry Port lifeboat launches to a broken down boat

On Saturday 2 July 2011 at 6 pm the volunteers at the RNLI’s station at Burry Port launched to assist a broken down 7 metre boat that was unable to start its engines.

The boat, with two persons from the Ebbw Vale area on board, had left its berth at Burry Port earlier in the day. When it was time to return was unable to start its engines. Their attempts to start their engines was observed from the lifeboat house by Deputy Launching Authority Roger Bowen who immediately paged the crew and informed the coastguards.

The station’s IB1 The Young Watsons was launched and was with the casualty within four minutes. The Young Watsons took the boat in tow and brought it back to its berth at Burry Port by 6:25 pm.

The Young Watsons was crewed by Gary Morgan, Lee Howells and Darren Caines.
