Burry Port lifeboat launches to fishing boat

At 5 pm on Thursday 5 May 2011 the volunteers at the RNLI’s station at Burry Port launched to assist the fishing boat Challenger off Burry Holmes that had nets around its propeller.

The boat was dragging its anchor and was in danger of going on to the rocks at Burry Holmes. The crew called for assistance using a mobile phone. The boat had left Burry Port marina earlier for a days fishing with a crew of two on board.

The station’s Atlantic 75 arrived with Challenger at 5:25 pm and rigged a tow and brought the fishing boat and its crew back to Burry Port. They entered the marina at 6:15 pm. The Challenger was back on its berth at 6:25.

The lifeboat was crewed by Justin Pugh, Julian Aston and Dave Taylor.
