Burry Port’s Boat Push

On a dull Sunday, 18 July 2010, at 1pm the volunteer crew and supporters from the RNLI’s station at Burry Port left ASDA Living, Trostre Park, Llanelli to The Sandpiper Sandy Water Park to the start line of their annual boat push.

An inshore lifeboat was pushed from the Sandpiper to the boat house. The push continued with many stops in lay-bys to allow the heavy Sunday traffic to pass. Many people in the cars were very generous and all were patient with our, and their, slow progress. We thank them for their generosity and patience.

The push continued through Pwll where many residents came out and gave donations. Finally into Burry Port and another “Pit Stop” at The Hope and Anchor before heading towards the finishing line at The Boat House.

At last Neil Roberts, aka Fish, was able to remove his Stormy Stan outfit and receive a welcome drink having worn the suit from 11:00am; he is now a great deal lighter.

The crew and supporters at Burry Port RNLI would like to thank everyone for their support; the crew collected £1,000 on the day. Special thanks to Dyfed-Powys Police for allowing the push to go ahead.

The lifeboat station is holding its open day on Sunday 25 July 2010 from 1:00pm until 5:00pm.
