Business as usual at Ysgol Glan Clwyd on Tuesday

Parents of students at Ysgol Glan Clwyd, St Asaph are being informed that the school will open on Tuesday, 19 July as usual.

A decision was made early yesterday (Sunday)  to close the school to students today (Monday) after a group of travellers moved on to a part of the school grounds on Saturday evening.

However, the council was informed late on Sunday night by police that the travellers had left the premises.

Headteachear Martin Davies, said: “Early on Sunday we took the decision to close the school to pupils on Monday until we had more time to assess the situation.  This gave us enough time to try and contact parents through various methods about the closure.

“However, we were informed very late on Sunday night that the travellers had moved on.  As a result, a decision has been made to re-open the school as usual on Tuesday.

“I would like to take the opportunity to thank officers from North Wales Police for the quick and efficient way they handled the situation.  Their intervention led to the travellers moving on a lot quicker than we expected.”
