Five parks across Caerphilly county borough have been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award by Wales’ leading environmental charity, Keep Wales Tidy.
Parc Cwm Darran, Cwmcarn Forest, Morgan Jones Park, Nelson Wern Park and Waunfawr Park have all met the exceptionally high standards expected of a Green Flag status park.
The award recognises the constantly outstanding quality offered all year by the best parks in Wales. The judges took into account not only the cleanliness and appearance of the parks but also the fantastic range of events and activities which take place for children and families, as well as walks, trails and the nationally recognised mountain biking routes at Cwmcarn Forest.
Green Flag Community Awards were presented to St Catherine’s Church Garden and The Roger Lewis Woodland Garden. The community award celebrates achievements of voluntary groups who care for a green space within their local community, ensuring that it remains a truly special place.
