Caerphilly has done it again

A Caerphilly CBC Civic Amenity Site has been shortlisted for a UK wide award, the Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management for ‘Civic Amenity Site of the Year, 2012’. Penallta is one of three sites to be shortlisted, being the only one in Wales!

Being shortlisted for the award shows the site is efficient, successful and effective day-to-day, provides an enhanced service to users and has seen a dramatic increase in recycling and composting rates, thanks to residents of the borough!

Mark Williams, Head of Public Services congratulated the site, “Being the only site in Wales to be shortlisted shows the high standard of service provided at Penallta. Caerphilly residents have helped us achieve high recycling and composting rates and we would like to thank them for supporting their local household waste recycling centres.”

The Awards for Excellence, in association with Palm Recycling are the recognised showcase to mark a range of achievements. Now in their ninth year, the Awards are renowned for showcasing innovation, dedication and success in recycling and sustainable waste management.

The shortlist for Civic Amenity Site of the Year, and the other categories can be found on the Awards for Excellence website.
