Caerphilly leading the way in the UK

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s website has received yet more national acclaim, after it achieved first place in a national survey measuring user satisfaction for the second year running.

Local authorities’ websites across the UK were assessed as part of a national survey called ‘Better Connected 2011’ by SOCITM UK (Society of Information Technology Management).

Caerphilly’s website www.caerphilly.gov.uk was recognised as having the best user satisfaction level of any other council website across the UK in the nationwide survey.

Cllr Lindsay Whittle, Leader of the Council said, “I am delighted with these excellent survey results – to have the best performing website in the UK in terms of user satisfaction for the second year running is a huge achievement”.

He continued, “Ensuring that council services are widely accessible is extremely important to us, and we are committed to providing a first class online service for the people of Caerphilly county borough – our website helps us to do just this”.

The SOCITM report states that Caerphilly’s website is ‘very good in many areas, excellent in fact’, and ‘is easy to use and navigate’.

The council’s popular website, which receives in excess of 100,000 views each month, offers a wide variety of services, including general information, the ability to report concerns or issues online, paying council tax, applying for jobs and much more.

The website also hosts a number of ‘mini sites’ focussing on events and attractions such as the annual Big Cheese Festival, a dedicated Christmas website and Blackwood Miners’ Institute.

Better Connected is an annual survey of the 433 local authority websites in Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as a range of other public sector sites, including fire and police services, government agencies and third sector bodies.
