Caerphilly county borough residents continue to show off their green credentials, with more than 5,000 residents to date having signed a pledge to commit to reduce the number of single use carrier bags they use.
Green-minded residents have stepped up to the challenge to use less single use carrier bags, which will help make our environment even cleaner and greener.
To help residents along their way, officers from Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Recycling team have been handing out FREE bags for life at public events.
Cllr Lyn Ackerman, Cabinet Member for the Environment said, “I am delighted that so many green-minded residents have really stepped up to the challenge to reduce the amount of single use carrier bags they use.”
She continued, “This excellent contribution from residents is really helping to put Caerphilly county borough on the map as being one of the leading areas in Wales for recycling and reuse”.
“By handing out free ‘bags for life’ at our events, we hope to continue to promote our commitment to sustainability and creating an even cleaner, greener environment”.
The next event that members of the public will be able to grab a FREE bag for life will be the Blackwood Dickensian Christmas Fayre on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th December.
Residents are encouraged to visit the ‘Green Zone’ at the Fayre to find out more, and as an added bonus, will also have the chance to take a Welsh tree home with them too, to coincide with National Tree Planting Week.
