Calling all Ghouls, Ghosts and Gremlins… Flat Holm Island sees in the Witching Hour this Halloween

Flat Holm Island will welcome visitors to its shores for a Halloween adventure later this month.

Just five miles off the coast of Cardiff and Barry, Flat Holm Island offers a wealth of wildlife, is steeped in history and is awash with areas to explore. This is the ideal location for you and your family to celebrate during this spooky weekend!

With a residential trip available on October 30 and 31 , and a three hour day trip on October 31.
there is a host of activities on offer. The pumpkin carving competition allows you to order a pumpkin or bring your own, and set about carving up a storm! All entries will be displayed with tea lights inside and the best carving will win a spooky prize.

Our team of volunteers will be hosting a range of craft making and seasonal games. Why not come over to the island and try your hand at making spooky decorations, have a go at apple bobbing or even try you luck at pinning the head on the headless horseman?

On an island famous for its cholera hospital and its Second World War fortifications, who knows what ghosts and ghouls may be lurking in the shadows. On a guided ghost walk you can share ghost stories and explore haunted underground ammunition stores and even the Fog Horn Station graveyard!

Those with a taste for the unexplained are invited to Dracula’s Dinner. Visitors to the island are asked to bring an item of food to contribute to the Halloween themed buffet… just the thing to get your teeth into! For more information call Flat Holm Team on Tel 029 2087 7912.

Cllr Nigel Howells, Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, said: “Flat Holm Island is a fantastic venue, providing an ideal location for a spooky visit, or even a weekend stay. I am certain this will prove to be a very successful and popular location to see in the witching hour and I hope everyone enjoys this exciting adventure!”
