Cardiff’s 2012 big weekend of cricket welcomed by Shadow Minister

Mohammad Asghar AM, Shadow Minister for Sport, is delighted that two big cricket events will be played on consecutive days at Cardiff’s Swalec Stadium in August 2012.

England will play South Africa in a One-Day International on August 24th, before the county cricket Twenty20 finals day takes place on August 25th.

“This is welcome news and provides another opportunity for Cardiff and South Wales to seize the sporting spotlight.

“I am delighted that the South African team will play England at the Swalec Stadium.

“Twenty20 finals day, too, is a hugely exciting event for cricket fans across the country and beyond.

“Following news that an Ashes Test Match will come to Cardiff in 2015, I hope the Welsh Government is considering very carefully the potential big cricket events like these offer Wales”.
