Nominations are open for the awards scheme until Wednesday 16 October. The awards recognise and celebrate people across the city who go the extra mile to offer friendship and support to others.

Cardiff Against Bullying (CAB) is Cardiff Council’s anti-bullying team, who work in partnership with schools, charities, the Police, parents, carers and young people to support those experiencing bullying or bullying others.  Bullying can have a devastating effect on the lives of children and their families and so CAB aims to work to reduce incidents and create a supportive environment where children and young people feel safe.

Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, Cllr Julia Magill, said: “There is a great deal of work and effort being put in at schools and communities across the city to tackle bullying and make a difference. It’s important we recognise those who are helping in the effort to create positive, supportive and caring environments.

“These awards are a fantastic way to say thank you to people who have made a difference and enhanced the lives of a friend, peer, pupil or colleague. Every year we hear inspirational stories about people, young and old, who are willing to lend their support to others experiencing difficult times.

“I look forward once again to hearing about these inspirational individuals in our community and for the opportunity to celebrate their efforts.”

Nominations will be accepted from peers, teaching and non teaching staff and professionals working alongside children and young people to the following categories:

  • Primary school award
  • Young Person team award
  • Young person individual award
  • Adult award
  • Secondary school award

If anyone has inspired you with their acts of kindness or commitment to making others feel included and valued why not show that they too are appreciated by nominating them for an award.

The awards ceremony will take place on SWALEC Stadium on Wednesday, 20th November, during Anti Bullying Week.
