Cardiff Council prosecutes dog owner

Cardiff Council has successfully prosecuted a dog owner for offences under The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

Ms Sharon Harrington of College Road, Gabalfa pleaded guilty at Cardiff Magistrates Court on 5th February 2010 to an offence relating to her ownership of an American Bulldog/Mastiff dog.

The case was brought following an investigation by a Cardiff Council dog warden into a number of incidents between January and August 2009 where the dog behaved aggressively to members of the public or put people in fear.

Ms Harrington was fined £100 with an order of costs of £240.

Ms Harrington is also subject to a control order relating to the dog. She is held as the sole person responsible for the dog which must be muzzled and kept on a secure lead whilst in a public place.
