Commenting on the First Minister’s speech to the Labour Party Conference, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the Assembly, Andrew RT Davies AM, said:
“As usual, the First Minister decided not to look at his record in Wales, but to focus on England instead. That’s because there’s nothing good to say about what Labour has done here.
“More empty promises about ‘building a better Wales’ are over ten years too late – and his comedy club claims about the NHS are mind-boggling.
“Take a look at the situation you’re responsible for Mr Jones: a 20,000 per cent rise in the number of patients waiting over 36 weeks for treatment since January last year – 52,000 per cent in orthopaedics alone.
“There were 7,000 breaches of the 36 week deadline in July, A&E waiting time targets have been missed every month for the last five years, we’re losing both frontline staff and hospitals, and still Labour is cutting our health budget.
“In Wales our public services are being driven into the ground. And Labour is to blame.”
