Cerbyd – New cross-disciplinary artist led project for the whole of Wales

Call out for Artists Deadline: April 16th 2010 Cerbyd is looking for submissions of interest from artists of all disciplines to be part of an eight day journey across Wales between August 2nd-10th 2010

The ten selected Cerbyd artists will sleep, eat, travel and talk throughout an 8 day bus journey and respond to rich and varied experiences with places, communities, their groups and unique activities.

Cerbyd offers the opportunity for artists to make connections of a long lasting, deep and relevant nature. Cerbyd is an ideal way to forge new collaborations and networks and an awareness of other practices, concerns and geographical perspectives.

Cerbyd is unique in its’ aim to link artists across Wales through travel, activity, collaborations and dialogue. The project will enable 10 selected artists to get to know one another while making creative responses to their country and the communities encountered.

Cerbyd will provide a creative map of Wales, making it easier to identify numerous important communities and artist groups. It will also benefit those wishing to work in Wales, by bringing contemporary art practice and new audiences into rural areas.

Cerbyd will offer artists the opportunity to share knowledge outside of a gallery/exhibition system in order to open up a freedom for exchange that will consolidate and strengthen the sector.

The project will develop further the critical network that is growing throughout Wales, while focusing on the long-term goals of cultural and critical dialogue, in addition to the artist’s professional development.

Cerbyd aims to be a potential catalyst for engaging new audiences, for sharing networks to mutual advantage and for cross pollination of ideas and approaches for artists and community groups.

Cerbyd will be hitting the road from August 2nd-10th 2010
