Chepstow Library hosts coffee morning to raise funds for cancer support charity

WorldsBiggestCoffeeMorningLogo2Chepstow Library will play its part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support on Friday 27th September from 11.15am to 1pm.

Now in its 23rd year, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning raised an amazing £15m for Macmillan in 2012.  It offers a taste test of three unusual varieties of coffee as well as the opportunity to win raffle prizes and guess the number of beans in the jar.  Alternately, people may savour their cuppa in the tranquil surroundings of the library’s garden, created as part of the Macmillan in Monmouthshire Cancer Information and Support Service.

Erica Sheppard, the Macmillan Libraries Coordinator said; “Everyone knows someone who is affected by cancer.  I too have friends and family who have been helped by Macmillan and feel privileged to be able do something to raise funds in support of the great work Macmillan does.”

Each library in Monmouthshire houses a cancer information area with free booklets and leaflets about living with and beyond cancer.  Cancer-related CDs, information for people with learning difficulties and their carers and information in a range of other languages are also available. Regular drop-in sessions provide friendly help, information and advice about cancer – for further details contact the nearest library.

Local libraries can also help with information on a variety of health matters, books on prescription can help overcome emotional issues and friendly staff will assist in selecting books to suit all reading tastes.
