The Chernobyl children lifeline Deeside, Ellesmere Port & Chester group, organised a visit for 14 Chernobyl children to Flint RNLI Lifeboat Station.
On arrival at the lifeboat station the children were shown a video of the RNLI at work, they got kitted up in lifeboat gear, had a tour of the lifeboat station and inspected the lifeboat, the lifeboat crew presented each child with an Easter Egg and a Welsh Dragon.
Alan Forrester, RNLI volunteer operations manager said, they were lovely children, who enjoyed their day with us, language wasn’t a barrier as they had an interpreter with them who was kept very busy with the childrens questions.
Then it was on to McDonalds in Flint for lunch with the some of the lifeboat crew volunteers . Angeline Matthews of Manager of McDonalds Flint, welcomed the party, where they were each provided with a ‘Happy Meal’ a drink, and a colouring book. Angeline said we were delighted to help, the childrens faces were a picture.
