China Opening for the Garden

Staff from the National Botanic Garden of Wales will be able to see first hand the fruits of their long-distance garden design labours when they attend the opening of the 8th International China Garden Expo.

The Garden was asked by the Welsh Government  to come up with a bespoke design to grace the Exhibition – which is taking place in Chongqing, Wales’ regional partner is China.

And now director Rosie Plummer, curator of horticulture Simon Goodenough, and head of development Rob Thomas, are jetting off to be at the opening on Saturday.

Rob said: “Horticulture and the love of planting have  a major role to play in building social bridges and breaking down cultural barriers.

“It was no easy task to replicate the Welsh landscape in subtropical climes and credit should go to senior horticulturist  Rupert Jensen for the part he played along with designer Anthony Jellard and landscape architect Rob Rodgers.”
