Christmas Day call-out for Llandudno RNLI volunteers

Llandudno RNLI inshore lifeboat crew was called out by Holyhead Coastguard at 9.15 p.m. on Christmas night to help in an extensive local search for a missing person.

There were fears that the missing person may have entered the sea or otherwise come to harm in the freezing conditions. As a result the lifeboat and her crew stood by on Llandudno’s promenade ready for immediate launch if needed whilst coastguards and North Wales Police searched the area, aided by the Police helicopter.

Fortunately the missing man was located half an hour later and the search was called off at 9.45 p.m.

The RNLI lifeboat and her crew were due to return to the promenade some twelve hours later for the station’s annual date to act as Safety Boat for Llandudno Lions’ ‘Boxing Day Dip’.
