Cist Gwynedd’s Panel’s visit to Neuadd Pendre, Tywyn: Councillor R H Wyn Williams; Councillor Ioan Thomas; Meinir Evans; John Pugh, Neuadd Pendre Enterprise; Councillor John Wynn Jones
Once again this year Gwynedd Council has been offering financial support to community project across the county through various grants from Cist Gwynedd.
There are several grants available through Cist Gwynedd which aim to support projects that improve the quality of life of the county’s residents, and support various groups and communities.
For the 2014-15 financial year the Cist Gwynedd Panel has allocated more than £81,000 to 11 community projects in Gwynedd including:
- Seiont, Gwyrfai and Llyfni Anglers Association £3,562.50
- The Royal Welch Fusiliers Museum £2,801
- National Theatr of Wales £3,000
- Garndolbenmaen Community Centre and Playing Field Committee £15,000
- Rhosgadfan Playing Field £13,000
- Y Felin Sgwrsio, Y Felinheli £4,680
- Llanelltyd Village Hall £4,999
- Blaenau Ffestiniog’s Social Centre £7,480
- Gwallgofiaid, Blaenau Ffestiniog £10,000
- Dinas Mawddwy Village Hall £9,539.40
- Antur Stiniog £7,595.58
Recently, the Cist Gwynedd Panel visited projects that have previously received financial support including Neuadd Pendre hall in Tywyn which received a total of £20,000 from the Voluntary Development Grant and the Local Investment Fund to carry out renovation work.
The Panel also visited a playing field scheme at Barmouth Memorial Park which received £20,000 during the 2013-14 financial year to install new tennis courts with artificial grass and a basketball/football field.
Lastly the panel visited Gwesty Seren hotel near Llan Ffestiniog which welcomes guests with disabilities and their families. SEREN Cyf. run the hotel, and £10,000 was granted by the Local Investment Fund to complete renovations in the building.
Councillor John Wynn Jones, Gwynedd Council’s Economy Cabinet Member, and member of the Cist Gwynedd Panel said:
“Visiting some of the projects that have received funding from Cist Gwynedd has enhanced our understanding of the beneficial effect this public money is having in communities across Gwynedd. It was great to meet the people who have worked hard to put this money to good use.
“Every application for grant funding is thoroughly assessed, and I’m very grateful to those who complete this work to ensure that the applicants receive the greatest benefit from the public funds they receive for the county’s communities.”
Funding is still available for the 2014-15 financial year. Grant applications must be submitted before the end of September 2014.
