Clampdown on misuse of motorbikes

The Wrexham South neighbourhood policing team recently took part in an ongoing operation targeting the unlawful use of motorbikes in the Rhosllannerchrugog and Rhostyllen areas.

The force helicopter conducted a series of flyovers searching well known hotspots in the area and an offender was spotted on the colliery bank in Rhostyllen.

He was stopped and the motorbike was seized.

Inspector Iwan Jones said :

‘This shows the excellent working arrangements the police have in Wrexham with our local authority. Through liaising with our local councillors and park wardens we have been able to set up an operation that has a direct impact on the safety of our road users and the quality of life of our community’.

The local PCSO for Rhostyllen Ben Madeley said ‘The way these motorbikes are being ridden in the local area is extremely dangerous without any consideration for the safety of the public or themselves. Offenders often fail to wear any safety equipment. We will continue to clamp down on anyone caught using motorbikes unlawfully. Local PCSO

Sofia Iftikar said: ‘This seizure is a step forward in combating the illegal use of the motorbikes around the Rhosllanerchrugog area. I would strongly encourage residents who have any information regarding and the illegal use of these bikes please call North Wales Police confidentially on 101.”
