Come as you are – Sunday 27 September

Come as you are – that’s the message from the Church in Wales (Diocese of St Asaph) – and the theme for this year’s ‘Back to Church Sunday’.

Sunday 27 September is the day when people throughout the diocese of St Asaph will be invited to come to church with a friend. Bishop Gregory Cameron, Bishop of St Asaph, said, “Many people, I think, actually miss going to Church; they stopped going, not because of a failure of faith, but because of the busyness of life. ‘Back to Church Sunday’ is a chance to say, ‘Well, let me try it again.’ I hope that anyone coming back to a church in the diocese of St Asaph will be pleasantly surprised. My word to them would be, ‘Come and give it a go, join in the fun!’”

‘Back to Church Sunday’ has been running for the last four years throughout the UK. It encourages people who used to come to church to come back and see what is happening now. People who have never been to church are invited to come and take a look. “Perhaps someone is interested in God, but not sure about church? Why not give us a try?” said the Revd Vittoria Hancock, Diocesan Evangelism Officer.

Over 50 churches will be taking part throughout the Diocese of St Asaph, covering an area from the Conwy Valley to Chester, and down to Welshpool and Newtown. To find out more about your local church, visit www.dioceseofstasaph.org and follow the link to ‘local church’.
