A new community project aimed at making Ely and Caerau a cleaner and safer place to live will be launched today (Thursday, March 6) at the Church of the Resurrection in Ely.
South Wales Police has teamed up with Communities First, ACE (Action in Caerau and Ely) and Cardiff Council to make the area an even better place to live by drawing on the energy and enthusiasm of members of the community.
The aims are to:
- Identify worst effected sites.
- Hold clean-ups at these places with participants earning time credits.
- Ask community groups to commit to keeping a specific area, such as a park or street, clean.
- Make sure dog fouling dispenser bags are available at key locations
- Celebrate achievements together.
Sergeant Richie Weber from Ely Police Station said: “We have been looking at different ways to improving things that matter to the community and specific issues that are brought up by members of the public.
“Community Pride is all about us working together to tackle issues such as dog fouling, littering, anti-social behaviour, graffiti, and off-road biking.
“I genuinely believe that people living here do care and I am confident that we can make some real improvements by making the area cleaner and even safer.”
Members of the public are invited to Community Pride launch at Church of the Resurrection in Ely, Grand Avenue, Ely, between 3pm and 4.30pm. Refreshments will be available.
