Community-run public conveniences praised

A local community has been praised by their Assembly Member for looking after their loos.

After Conwy County Borough Council stopped funding, the toilets in Llansannan had to close. The Menter Bro Aled community group in Llansannan raised the necessary funds so they could re-open the village’s public conveniences and take over their ownership. Darren Millar, Assembly Member for Clwyd West, has praised the local community for their extensive fundraising efforts which means the toilets will continue to stay open.

Darren said

‘It’s great news that both the local community and visitors to the area will continue to have use of these facilities.

‘Although I’m disappointed funding from the council was cut, I’m delighted the Menter Bro Aled community group have been able to raise the necessary funds to take control of Llansannan’s loos. My hearty congratulations to all those volunteers who have worked so hard fundraising.

‘This is a cracking example of community spirit which sets an example to us all.’
