Conwy Street Parties

Conwy Council is offering a Four Step Guide to Street Parties to help residents celebrate the Royal Wedding.

At a meeting last week Conwy’s Councillors agreed that residents needed some guidance to help them prepare their community celebrations.

1. Organisers will need permission from the Council’s Highways and Infrastructure Services to hold a street party – there will be no charge for this.

For an application form write to Streetworks, The Heath, Penmaenmawr Road, Llanfairfechan LL33 0PF or e-mail [email protected] with details of the road to be closed and date and time of the closure.  Deadline to submit applications is 11/04/11.

2. Permission will only be given to street parties taking place on the weekend of the Royal Wedding 29 April – 2 May 2011.

3. All streetparties will need to have suitable signs on display, examples can be downloaded for free from the Streets Alive website

4. Finally, the Council is strongly advising organisers to arrange Public Liability Insurance for their events.

Cllr Brian Cossey, Chairman, Conwy’s Communities Scrutiny Committee said, “We want our residents who want to celebrate the royal wedding to be able to do so with little fuss and expense but to keep within the law. We hope this advice will help any organisers.”
