Corwen Pavilion Working group has first meeting

The first meeting of the Corwen Pavilion working group took place on Thursday 13 May.

Thirty-six people attended representing the community and respective local groups as well as Denbighshire County Council.

Jamie Groves, Head of Leisure and Youth Services, opened the meeting and welcomed everybody.

The group decided to split into three sub-groups to work on constitution, construction and design and fund raising.

The first group will meet on 10 June with Denbighshire officers and the Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council (DVSC) to start putting together a new constitution for the group.

The construction and design group will meet on 15 June.  A representative from the Denbighshire design group will attend the meeting.  They can advise the group on such things as building regulations, planning and design.

The first fund raising group will be meeting on 5 August.

Jamie Groves said, “The meeting was a positive first step to finding a replacement to the Corwen Pavilion.  A number of suggestions were raised which will be explored by the different sub-groups.  This is a good example of the local community and the county council working together to find a solution which will benefit all residents of Corwen and the surrounding area.”
