Monmouthshire County Council has arranged with utility managers that scheduled public works will be suspended on Sunday 10th November 2013, to allow Armistice Day parades and services to proceed unhindered. The embargo will run all day.
Council Leader Peter Fox commented: “The embargo on works in Monmouthshire on Remembrance Sunday will be in position all day unless there are very good reasons for us to relax it. Should we allow any works to proceed I have been assured that this will not affect the acts of remembrance or parades in any way. It is of the utmost importance that we show respect to the memories of those that gave their lives while serving their country.”
While the council accepts that necessary emergency operations must be undertaken it has issued a ban on work between 10:30am (10:15am in Chepstow) and 11:30am to avoid noise or disruption while parades take place.
