The Chief Executive, Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council took the plunge on Friday (18th March) when they flung themselves off an imposing cliff for charity.
The intrepid trio joined dozens of other council staff who abseiled from the top of Penallta Rocks throughout the day.
Penallta Rocks are located next to the council offices in Ystrad Mynach and participants enjoyed stunning views of the surrounding area before they went ‘over the edge’.
Anthony O’Sullivan (Chief Executive), Cllr James Fussell (Mayor) and Cllr Vera Jenkins (Dep Mayor) agreed to lead by example and encouraged all CCBC employees to dig deep and donate to this worthwhile cause.
Cllr James Fussell said, “As Mayor I get to do lots of different things, but I’ve got to be honest, this was one of the most unusual activities I’ve done as part of my Mayoral duties!”
Anthony O’Sullivan added, “It was a great experience and I was delighted to see so many colleagues taking part and raising money for such a good cause.”
A range of events and fundraising activities took place across the organisation as well as in schools across the county borough during the day.
