Council offers water butts for sale

Monmouthshire County Council’s sustainability team is running its first ever one day sale of water butts in Chepstow Leisure Centre’s car park on Thursday 26th July from 12pm.  Further sales will be held at Abergavenny Leisure Centre on 1st August, Caldicot Leisure Centre on 22nd August and Monmouth Leisure Centre on 29th August.

The water butts come complete with taps, lids, stands and diverters, linking the water butt to the drainpipe, for an amazing £25.  Made from 100% recycled plastic they have a capacity of 190 litres.

Collecting rainfall in a water butt is the perfect solution for saving money if you have a water meter.  It helps to conserve this precious resource while maintaining a green and pleasant garden.

People are asked to pay by cash.  If they wish to reserve a water butt they should phone 01633 644844 or email [email protected].

Local county councillor Phil Hobson, cabinet member with responsibility for sustainability issues said: “This is a great way for people to save water and reduce water bills if on a water meter”.
