The Isle of Anglesey’s pavilion at the Anglesey Show has been given a revamp to focus on the new direction of the Council.
The new-look pavilion will be officially opened by County Council Chairman, Selwyn Williams, at 10.00am on Tuesday, August 10th and members of the public are encouraged to visit the pavilion over the two-day event, as a full programme of events has been organised.
This year, there will be three different areas in the pavilion, based on the themes of People, the Economy and the Environment. There will also be a central Welcome Desk where Council officers will be taking enquiries from the public and explaining more about the work of the Council.
In the ‘People’ area, there will be an opportunity to test your fitness using an interactive rowing machine and Body Mass Index tests, and those making pledges to improve their health will receive a goodie bag. Outside, the sports development team will be putting members of the public through their paces with a mountain bike obstacle course.
As part of the heritage display in the ‘Environment’ section, there will be Celtic facepainting over the two days and the Council’s brand new mobile tourist information centre will be full of ideas for things to do on the island all year round.
If it’s entertainment you’re after, why not call by to see theatre company Fran Wen bringing prison life in Victorian times to life in a special performance between 3-4pm on Tuesday, or kick back and relax for a bit as Arfon Wyn and his band provide musical entertainment on both days.
The Council pavilion will also host a number of launches over the two days. Tuesday sees the Carers Awards Ceremony at 10.30am and the launch of the Plas Crigyll Dementia Support Programme at 1pm. On Wednesday, the Parental Support and Information Pack will be launched by Ynys Môn Community Safety Partnership at 10.30am, and the new Llwyddo’n Lleol programme, aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills and renewing young people’s confidence in the island’s economy, will be launched at 3pm.
As part of the Council’s commitment to openness, members of the Council’s Executive will also be available to answer your questions and discuss matters with you between 2-3pm on both days. Council Leader Clive McGregor said, “We are committed to being an open and accessible Council, and therefore value this opportunity to meet with visitors to the Anglesey Show to discuss any issues or concerns.”
Council Chairman, Councillor Selwyn Williams added, “There will be plenty to see and do in the pavilion this year, and I’d encourage everyone to come and visit us at the Anglesey Show.”
Tea and coffee will be served by staff from Llys Llewelyn during the two days, and sandwiches and cakes will also be for sale. You can find us on stand number 88, Avenue C – one avenue behind the Main Ring near the Food Hall.
