Crowds pack Eisteddfod on family Sunday

The Maes at The Works: Ebbw Vale was packed for Eisteddfod 2010’s family Sunday – with 25,000 visitors enjoying fun activities, the arts and music.

Blaenau Gwent and the Heads of the Valleys had priority for booking free tickets – and local people turned out in huge numbers to support the Eisteddfod. Popular features included The Beach, the sports field and The General Offices.

Coun Des Hillman, Leader of Blaenau Gwent Council, said:

“This family Sunday is Blaenau Gwent’s day at the Eisteddfod. Local communities are coming together brilliantly to make the festival a success. Today it seemed everyone was there to celebrate.

“All the visitors can see how The Works project has restored the former steelworks site – and they can find out how our regeneration partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government can deliver a better future.”
