Councils’ marquee a picture of health at annual show

Denbighshire and Flintshire County Councils’ joint marquee at the annual Denbighshire and Flintshire Agricultural Show was given a clean bill of health by winning the best non-agricultural trade stand for its health and well-being theme.

The marquee was full of exhibitions promoting various council services and initiatives, including healthy school meals, Change 4 Life, walking, cycling and leisure services.

Demonstrations included zumba dancing and Tai Chi and people had a chance  to try out low impact exercises on easyline equipment, as well as an opportunity to have a go on a smoothie bike.

A prominent feature of the exhibition was a display celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Plants provided by sheltered workshop Tri Ffordd Nurseries based in Flintshire also featured in the exhibition.

Councillor Meirick Lloyd Davies, Chair of Denbighshire County Council, said: “Yet again, the joint partnership between Denbighshire and our Flintshire colleagues has proved successful and we had a very successful day showcasing the various council services that we offer in relation to health and well-being.”

Councillor Owen Thomas, Chairman of Flintshire County Council said: “We were delighted to win the prize for the best non agricultural trade stand and to work with our Denbighshire County Council colleagues to promote the various council services. I would also like to thank all the other exhibitors and visitors to the show for their excellent support and making the day such a success.”
