County’s Bash Street Gang

BashStreetYoung writers in Pembrokeshire have created their very own comic.

‘The Evil Dancing Bunnies of Doom’ has been produced by members of Haverfordwest Library’s Young Writers Squad.

Kev F Sutherland a comic writer for the Beano launched the comic at the library last week.

The comedian, writer and comic artist also helped inspire the youngsters by leading sessions full of humour energy and enthusiasm on how to create and produce comic strips.

“We were really impressed by the youngsters’ commitment and enthusiasm,” said Councillor Peter Morgan, Cabinet Member for Communities and Partnerships, who attended last week’s launch.

“Their cartoons have been put together to make up their new comic, which has been produced by the County Council.

“Watch out Dennis the Menace!”

The Young Writers Squad was set up by the County Council’s library service three years ago to encourage youngsters aged 11 and over to express themselves through writing, be it poetry, prose or lyrics.

The squad meets at Haverfordwest Library every Tuesday evening from 4.30pm to 6.30pm and its members regularly take park in creative sessions with established writers, organised by Pam Harry, Young People’s Librarian and Christine Willison, County Arts Officer.
