Craft and Chat group proves getting crafty is sew popular

Higher Shotton Communities First’s Craft and Chat Group has quadrupled in size since it settled in its new base at John Summers Community Campus in April!

The group started with three people interested in crafts and wanted to get together to share knowledge and skills. They approached the team at Higher Shotton Communities First to ask for advice and support in starting up a group to encourage others who may wish to come along and share skills.

Sharon Jones, Communities First Co-ordinator, said:

“They’ve done amazingly well. When the group started up in John Summers Community Campus two months ago, they had just five members, and in that short space of time the group has grown to over 20 regulars! It’s great to see such a variety of skills and interests. They produce a wide range of arts and crafts – jewellery, greetings cards, knitted toys and blankets – whatever they choose to do when they meet.

“Both men and women are welcome to come along and ‘get crafty’, the group is keen to welcome new members. They meet each Tuesday 10.00am – 12.30 at the John Summers Community Campus (just by the library).

The fee is £2.50 each week, which includes tea and coffee.

If you wish to come along or require any further information please contact Communities First on 01244 846090.
