At 11.46am yesterday the Criccieth RNLI lifeboat Doris Joan was launched to a report of two young girls aged 14 and 16 from Lincolnshire trapped by the incoming tide on the North Bank, Black Rock Sands, Porthmadog.
Holyhead coastguard had been contacted by the girls’ distressed parents, as the girls had become stranded and the fast incoming water had reached their knees.
The RNLI lifeboat arrived on scene at 11.51am and the casualties were assessed and transferred to the coastguard unit at Black Rock Sands.
Peter Lunt the Criccieth Lifeboat Operations Manager commented: ‘This rescue has definitely saved lives, if the lifeboat hadn’t arrived at that time the girls could of been swept away.’
The Criccieth RNLI lifeboat returned to station at 12.15pm and was re-fuelled and ready for service.
