Residents in Penylan can now enjoy a cycle ride through New York by visiting their local library.
Penylan Library and Community Centre has undergone a stunning metamorphosis with the venue extensively refurbished, transforming the two-storey building into a contemporary family orientated fitness and learning centre.
Residents can now enjoy a modern facility which offers a diverse range of activities including a new state-of-the-art interactive room where people can use computer games to help improve their physical fitness.
Screens are attached to bikes and set up in front of dance mats, allowing up to 15 people to participate in limitless activities together. Games range from dance to educational games.
The new Extreme Interactive bikes allow enthusiasts to experience leisurely cycle rides through New York City, or for the more competitive, engage in races with fellow cyclists.
The interactive studio is the first of its kind in Cardiff, enabling exercise and learning in an active environment.
The venue also has a child friendly gym equipment allows parents and children to exercise together.
With the modern additions of Extreme Interactive bikes and touch sensitive dance mats, teamed together with a generous collection of fiction, non-fiction and talking books and public computers, the facility combines the library’s elements of leisure and learning through reading with active play from the community centre to create an environment which stimulates growth and fun.
