Davies: Economy still waiting for Enterprise Zones

Welsh Conservatives have called on Welsh Labour Ministers to end their dithering over the introduction of Enterprise Zones.

The policy was first announced for England by the Chancellor during a speech in Cardiff in March 2011.  Edwina Hart announced Enterprise Zones for Wales in September 2011, but information about how they might operate remains sketchy.

Andrew RT Davies AM said, “It is worrying that four months after the Enterprise Zones policy for Wales was finally announced by the Enterprise Minister, businesses have no details about how the policy will operate.

“The Labour Minister has said that Enterprise Zones are seen by the business community as a real focal point, however, she’s failed to work with industry to develop the policy and get in place.

“Labour’s dithering on the economy shows a tired and lethargic government failing to take the decisive action needed to encourage growth and optimism in our nation’s economy.”
