Commenting on today’s report that the Education Minister wants people to stop using the term NEETs to describe people not in education, employment or training, Shadow Education Minister Paul Davies AM said:
“Rather than obsessing about whether we should use the term NEET, the Education Minister should spend his time reducing the number of people who actually are NEETs.
“The problem is ministers failed to seize the opportunity of improving the number of people not in education, employment or training before the recession.
“As Wales limps out of recession there is little hope of matters improving with the Welsh economy in such a fragile state.
“This task is made harder as the Assembly Government seeks to cut further education funding, with fewer job opportunities, and with more people seeking work and training.”
