Commenting on the publication of time spent in NHS Wales Accident and Emergency Departments, Shadow Health Minister Andrew RT Davies AM said:
“These figures make for more bad news for the Health Minister.
“Just last week, we learned that the targets of 14 weeks for inpatient or day case treatment and 10 weeks for first outpatient appointments had been missed dramatically.
“Now we learn that not one single Health Board in Wales met the target of 95% of new patients spending no longer than 4 hours in an A&E department from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge.
“And while some Health Boards did manage to attain the target of 99% of new patients spending no longer than 8 hours in an A&E department, the vast majority did not.
“I commend the commitment and dedication of the staff working in A&E departments across Wales. If it were not for their hard work, these times would undoubtedly be longer.
“However, the Minister needs to address why these targets are not being met.
“She must address these failings and ensure that people in Wales are getting the highest possible level of service from the NHS.”
