Davies: Transport Planning to be More Regionally Focussed

Paul_Davies_AMAssembly Member, Paul Davies has welcomed the Welsh Government’s new plans to re-define the National Transport Plan to include regional priorities and to establish a transport framework that integrates local, regional and national transport planning.

Mr Davies said:

“I’m pleased that the Welsh Government has finally recognised that transport planning needs to include regional priorities. It makes perfect sense that the Welsh Government take on board the views of business groups and local government representatives, who have expressed concern about the current planning and delivery arrangements. With a renewed focus on local transport priorities, I hope that the Minister seriously considers the case for dualling the A40 in Pembrokeshire, which would have a huge economic impact on Pembrokeshire.”

He added:

“Pembrokeshire is a flourishing tourist hotspot, which attracts thousands of visitors every year and so to fully capitalise on that, there needs to be a strong transport network in place. Therefore, in wake of this statement, I look forward to discussing dualling the A40 with the Minister in due course.”
