Commenting on the Health Minister’s confirmation that a second cycle of IVF treatment is now available on the NHS for couples in Wales, Shadow Health Minister Andrew RT Davies said:
“I am grateful that the Minister has taken on board the concerns raised over access to second cycles of IVF treatment, including those that I raised in the plenary session last week.
“The Assembly Government is now finally taking steps to meet NICE guidelines in respect of IVF treatment, but it is alarming that it has taken so long for this to be actioned.
“It is vital that Health boards across Wales make patients fully aware of how they can access a second cycle of IVF treatment.
“We must recognise that couples receiving IVF treatment can be in an incredibly vulnerable and emotional state and must be adequately supported.
“The Welsh Conservatives have lobbied the Assembly Government hard on this issue and I am delighted that people in Wales are now able to access a second cycle of IVF treatment on the NHS.”
