Daytime delights at RCT theatres

A fantastic new season of daytime events are coming up this spring at The Coliseum Theatre, Aberdare, The Muni Arts Centre in Pontypridd and The Park & Dare Theatre, Treorchy. Music with munchies, children’s performances and a nostalgic afternoon of singalong songs are on the menu.

Every month, The Coliseum presents Songs and Scones as part of Cultural Services Take pART initiative. Customers can relax and unwind in the comfortable surroundings of the Gallery Bar, whilst indulging in a scone and a cup of tea or coffee (included in the ticket price) and enjoying some outstanding music. The next afternoon performance will be on Wednesday, February 10, then Wednesday, March 10 and Wednesday, April 14 at 1.00pm. Rewind – a brand new programme of themed film seasons – rolls into theatre auditoriums next month. Sit back and enjoy some of the best movies ever made. From spine-tingling horror movies at The Muni Arts Centre to literary classics at The Coliseum including the sweeping romantic epic Memoirs of a Geisha (12A) on Thursday, February 11 at 1.00pm, Of Mice and Men (PG) on Tuesday, March 2 at 1.00pm, and enchanting The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe (PG) on Tuesday, May 11 at 1.00pm.

Both children’s favourites and contemporary classics feature at The Park & Dare including The Reader (15) starring Kate Winslet on Wednesday, February 10 at 1.00pm and Doubt (15) starring Meryl Streep on Wednesday, March 10 at 1.00pm; the brilliant sci-fi comedy Short Circuit (PG) on Wednesday, February 10 at 4.00pm and the iconic pirate adventure The Goonies (PG) on Wednesday, March 10 at 4.00pm. We’ll Meet Again – Hits from the Blitz is at The Coliseum Theatre on Wednesday, March 17 at 2.00pm. Relive the spirit of the Forties in this nostalgic afternoon performance of singalong songs from the War Years. Tickets priced at £12.00, concessions £10.00.

Children’s daytime performances this Spring include the high energy foot-stomping party show High School Rocks at The Park & Dare Theatre on Tuesday, March 30 at 2.00pm and 5.30pm, the magical and enchanting children’s show Gluscabi and His Big Bag Of Tales at The Muni Arts Centre on Wednesday, April 7 at 11.30am & 2.00pm, and the heart-warming participation musical A Little Princess at The Coliseum Theatre on Saturday, April 24 at 2.30pm.
