Dean Jeffrey John delivers theology lecture at Swansea

The opening Theology Public Lecture for this Lent Term at Swansea University will be delivered by the Very Reverend Dr Jeffrey John, Dean of St Albans. He will be speaking in the James Callaghan Lecture Theatre at 7.00p.m. on Thursday, 9th February 2012. This lecture is part of Swansea University’s highly successful Theology Public Lecture Series. Everybody is welcome to attend the lecture and admission is free.

The Very Reverend Dr Jeffrey John
Dr Jeffrey John was born in Tonyrefail in South Wales in 1953. He studied at Hertford College, Oxford University, where he gained a first class honours degree in Classics and Modern Languages in 1975. He subsequently gained a degree in Theology whilst training for the ordained ministry at St Stephen’s House Oxford. After serving a curacy in Penarth, he returned to Oxford in 1980 to study for a DPhil in Theology. He became Chaplain of Brasenose College Oxford. In 1984 he was appointed Dean of Divinity at Magdalen College Oxford. In 1997 he became Canon Chancellor and Theologian of Southwark Cathedral. He is now Dean of St Albans.
