Deliberate fires in Flint: Appeal

Police inquiries are underway following a number of hedge fires in the Flint area.

A total of six deliberate fires have been reported to North Wales Police and all have occurred over a two-day period, between Sunday, 27th and Monday, 28th September.

All six incidents have occurred in the Cornist / Windsor Drive area of Flint and officers are urging anyone who may have information to come forward.

District Inspector David Roome said: “North Wales Police are treating all these fires as serious incidents which could have had a devastating impact on the community.

“We are working closely with the Fire and Rescue Service and an investigation is ongoing. Extensive house to house enquiries have been undertaken in the area and we are appealing for anyone who may have information – no matter how small, to contact us.

He added: “Ordinary, law abiding citizens don’t want to see their community blighted by these mindless attacks and we are doing everything we can, in conjunction with the Arson Reduction Team to prevent this from happening.

“Increased patrols are being carried out in the area, however we believe members of the local community know who is committing these acts and I would urge them to come forward.”

Anybody who may have information regarding these incidents, or anyone who has seen suspicious gangs hanging around the area, is asked to contact officers at Flint Police Station on 101, if you are calling from Wales, or 0845 607 1001 ( Welsh language line), 0845 607 1002 ( English language line) or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
